We are a small start up that will be producing brandy. We are currently in the process of getting the applicable licensing that will make us eligible for contract distilling. Does any one know if we need any type of federal license before we submit our application for the MD rectifying license ?
Any Help is Greatly Appreciated.
Thanks alot.

I believe you will need to have a federal permit (called a basic permit) issued by the TTB in order to complete your state permit application. These are free but take a long time to complete. I just checked and turn around times for permits approved in Sept 2020 averaged 116 days. Go to “permits on line” to start the process or hire an expert. You can find expert help on the ADI forum.
