Lovers of food truck fare no longer have to worry about traveling out of downtown Frederick to get their fix.
The city changed its vendor and peddler ordinance to allow mobile food vendors to operate from the parking lots of small craft breweries, wineries and distilleries, as well as in the lot at the MARC station. Thursday’s vote was unanimous among the four elected officials in attendance, with Alderman Phil Dacey absent.
Mobile food vendors are defined as food trucks, food tents and food carts. Before the vote, the vendor and peddler ordinance prohibited mobile food vendors from setting up in the Frederick Town Historic District, allowing them only in city parks and public city streets.
