The American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA) is elevating American spirits by hosting its annual Legislative Fly-In in Washington, DC on Monday, July 24th and Tuesday, July 25th. ACSA is the only national non-profit trade group that is dedicated to elevating and advocating on behalf of all craft spirits producers and we’re excited to fulfill our mission on Capitol Hill. Our membership base is comprised of licensed DSPs—distillers like you and me—who work collectively toward the betterment of the industry. We are actively working for a reduction in the Federal Excise Tax (FET) as part of the omnibus tax bill that you are likely hearing about in the daily news.
Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Roy Blunt (R-MO) introduced S. 236, the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act, a proposal which includes a reduction in your tax liability from $13.50 to $2.70 for the first 100,000 proof gallons of spirits. Representatives Erik Paulsen (R-MN) and Ron Kind (D-WI) have filed a House version of the bill, H.R. 747. The legislation has garnered wide bipartisan support with over 45 co-sponsors in the Senate and almost 200 in the House.
We would love to have your help in our efforts and hope you’ll consider joining ACSA today and attending this complimentary members-only legislative event for the opportunity to have your voice be heard! We will meet with home state legislators from both the House and the Senate to further expand Congressional support to lower the FET on distilled spirits. Please consider participating—there is strength in numbers. Become a member and register today for our Legislative Fly-In!
